Behind Jacqueline, Theodore made a small, strangled sound, and I whipped around to see him with a hand pressed over his mouth, his eyes crinkling helplessly at the corners.

“I am not laughing, I swear,” he said, in the unconvincing voice of a man absolutely laughing.

Will somebody please just tell me what is going on?” Theodore, still fighting his grin, gestured fondly at his wife.

“It isn’t that serious, dear,” he said.
