“Were you still married to her when you proposed to me?”

Dominic said nothing.

That silence answered for him.

For years, I’d thought I would hate Natalie if I ever stood in front of her. But when I saw the truth drain from her face, I understood that Dominic hadn’t only lied to me—he’d built an entire life out of lies and invited everyone to live inside it.

Natalie turned her eyes to me. “Did you know about me?”

“Not at first,” I replied. “By the time I found out, I was pregnant. He told me he was traveling for work, that money was tight, that his mother needed help. Then one day, his number just stopped working.”

Dominic rubbed his face, his hands shaking. “Audrey, please. Not in front of the children.”

I almost laughed. “Now you care what they hear?”
