It is, I think, the hardest thing I have ever had to do as his mother, and I would do it again, because the thing everybody gets wrong about that speech is the tone.

He is not angry in it.

He is not shaking.

He is calm and he is articulate and he is, for the first ninety seconds, extremely good.

The room does go quiet, about twenty seconds in.

He says that he did not get an invitation.

He says that for four years in that school he was told, in a hundred small ways, that he did not belong in the room, and that he had assumed by thirty-eight everybody would have grown out of it.

That section is fine.
