“That is a lie,” I breathed, and for a moment the whole room seemed to tilt around me.
“I have been in Singapore for six years.
I have not set foot in this country.
I never signed this.
I could not have signed this.” Julian smiled, and there was a cold, patient, predatory gleam in his eyes, the look of a man who has done this before and expects it to go exactly as it always goes.
“The county clerk accepted it,” he said.
