If you hold a professional position that gives somebody else’s company an advantage by association — a licence, a clearance, a warrant, a board seat, a regulatory role, a job at a customer — then somewhere there may be a document with a sentence about you in it that you have never seen.

Look.

Capability statements are public.

So are company websites, conference programmes, award submissions, and the bios on a trade association’s page.

Search your own name and your spouse’s company’s name together, once a year, and read what comes back as though a stranger wrote it about somebody else.
