The late-May air was crisp and thick with promise.

I sat high in the bleachers of Ohio State’s stadium, the roar of sixty thousand people vibrating in my chest, and scanned the sea of black robes on the turf below until I found her.

Walking tall, cap angled just so, the gold summa cum laude cords bright around her neck.

She caught my eye in the crowd and waved, a brilliant unguarded smile breaking across her face.
