“Delete that photo,” Julian hissed, stepping toward Leo.

“Right now.” Leo held the phone against his chest with both hands and stood his ground, and he did not look frightened, only steady.

“Why?” he asked.

“Are you ashamed of her?”

“Because I am your father,” Julian said, low and shaking, “and I am ordering you to stop.” I was already moving.

I stepped in between my husband and my son, and I put a firm hand on Leo’s shoulder, and I looked at Julian.

“Back off,” I said.
