Eleven days after the piece ran, I got an email from an outside law firm retained by Bramhall Industrial, informing me that I might be a witness in anticipated proceedings and offering, as a courtesy, to have the firm’s colleagues represent me at no cost to me.

I want to stop and explain what that email is, because I did not know, and because a great many people in my position sign it.
