A woman of about sixty in the chair to the left, who turned out to be Delphine Sawicki, the company’s general counsel.
And a younger woman standing by the window with a laptop who I never learned the name of and who left after four minutes.
On the desk was a folder.
Everybody who hears this story expects the folder to be sinister and it was and it was not, and the difference is worth setting out, because it is the difference between a story and what actually happens to people.
