The Man on Her Left
I helped an injured person move and I was good at it and I’d do most of it again.
“That one I can’t argue about.
She was my patient on that floor for about ninety seconds, whatever else she was, and I sent away the person who wanted to call for help, and I did it because there was a meeting on the Thursday.
“Nobody made me do that.
She asked me and I did it, and she was on a floor with a broken back and I was the one standing up.”
There was a silence of about six seconds.
