So I did three things instead.

Not once, in four months.

If she came into a room, I found a reason to be in that room.

If she took them to the car, I carried something to the car.

She knew I was doing it, and I knew she knew, and neither of us ever said so.

“I told Lorelai to write things down.

“And I kept my own record.”
