Rachel stepped back.

Lily began to cry.

Daniel grabbed both of them and pulled them into the hallway. The bathroom door slammed shut behind them by itself.

For a few seconds, nobody moved.

Then came three knocks from inside the bathroom.

Rachel covered her mouth.

Daniel stood between his family and the door.

The next morning, they called a repairman to open the wall behind the mirror.

What they found made the whole family leave the house before sunset.

Behind the mirror was a sealed wooden panel.

Behind that panel was an old photograph.
