After the Excavation

The formal fieldwork at Ozette concluded in 1981, but the work associated with the site has continued in various forms since then.

The conservation of objects recovered during the excavation continued for years after the fieldwork ended.

The scale and complexity of the collection meant that conservation was a long-term enterprise.
