The Makah Tribe maintains an ongoing relationship with the site, which remains within their traditional territory and within the boundaries of the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary.

Continued erosion of the bank at the site has occasionally exposed additional materials, and the tribe and resource management agencies have protocols for responding to and documenting such exposures.

The research questions that Ozette opened have stimulated additional work at other sites along the Northwest Coast.
