A Native town is a permanent or semi-permanent community.

A military camp is temporary.

The two can overlap.

When a Spanish army entered a Native settlement, it did not necessarily create a completely separate camp somewhere else.

Soldiers could occupy existing structures.

Animals could be kept in or near the settlement.

Equipment could be placed inside houses.

The distinction between village and camp could therefore become blurred.
