The final version was simple.

I do not believe hair defines a woman. What happened to me was serious because another person decided she had the right to alter my body while I was asleep in order to punish me for my career.

The physical injury healed quickly. The more lasting harm came from waking in a home where two people believed my autonomy was negotiable.

I am asking for accountability and protection, not revenge.
