The One Who Hadn’t Stopped Looking
At 12:48 that afternoon, Mark had badged into Cold Room B.
Four minutes later, Marcus badged into the same room.
At 1:11, Marcus badged out.
But Mark’s badge did not register an exit until 2:37, more than an hour later, and the swipe had come from the interior access panel, meaning someone else had used my unconscious husband’s keycard to log him out from inside.
Then we checked the climate-control logs, and my stomach turned over.
At 1:14 that afternoon, three minutes after Marcus badged out, someone had manually overridden the temperature in Cold Room B, dropping it from a normal 38 degrees to 10 below zero.
