Chapter 20 — The Only One Who Couldn’t See

A year after the engagement dinner, Emily received a letter at the foundation.

It was from Andrew.

He did not ask for another chance.

He did not defend his mother.

He did not complain about the life he had lost.

He simply wrote: I used to believe loving someone meant feeling something powerful for them.

Now I understand that love also means standing up when that person needs you beside them.
