Lock the door, she said to Davis.
He looked at her.
You think this was deliberate.
I think, she said, that someone made very sure your first officer could not fly this airplane tonight, and I think they are not finished, and I think the only thing we owe them right now is a locked door and a safe landing, in that order.
And then she said the thing that she needed Davis to hold onto, because she could see him beginning to divide his attention between flying the airplane and solving the crime, and a divided captain was a danger to everyone.
We are not going to figure out who or why up here, she said.
