That was the whole of what recovery had turned out to be.
No one had told her that, in any of the months of trying to heal; she had kept waiting for recovery to feel like the pain going away, and it never had, and she had taken the not-going-away as proof that she was failing at it.
She understood now that she had misunderstood the whole project.
