“Did my father know about this?”
My father gave her a look of mild irritation.
“Your family was informed of everything necessary to secure the merger, Isabela.” She went pale.
“Everything necessary?” He sighed, as though we were both children ruining a delicate strategy.
“There were land deals, corporate restructuring, and credit guarantees riding on your union.
A pregnant preschool teacher in the middle of those negotiations would have derailed all of it.” He said it so casually.
