I was holding a tiny newborn wrapped tight in a standard striped hospital blanket.

On the baby’s head was a bright yellow knitted hat.

It wasn’t just similar.

It was the exact same bright yellow yarn that was sitting on my hall table right now, with the same uneven stitching near the brim.
