The Places Where Their Power Ended
She sat across from me in my office, her hands trembling around a cup of tea.
“They’ll tell everyone I’m crazy,” she whispered, tears welling in her eyes.
“I know exactly how that feels,” I told her.
“He owns the house, the money, everything.”
“That’s exactly what he wants you to believe.”
She looked at the faint outline of my scars and seemed to find a small measure of hope.
“How did you finally win?” she asked softly.
