The Real Jackpot
Ruben was behind the counter, humming to himself and wiping down the coffee machine.
The bell chimed, and he looked up, and a slow, knowing smile spread beneath the white mustache.
“Well, look who came back,” he chuckled.
“You look a whole lot less tired than last time, son.”
I set a small leather folder on the register.
“What’s this?”
