Wendy did not stop talking for the entire nineteen minutes, and none of it was about the girl, which I understood later was because her mind had put the girl in a box marked some woman and could not conceive of any other contents.
She said she would go to a lawyer with me.
She said she would tell Arthur tonight.
She said, twice, “In this family we don’t do that.”
