And then, about six minutes in, he said this:

“On a personal note.

Some of you know that my wife Gwen has had a hard year — she lost her father not long ago and it’s taken a toll, and she’s been unwell.” A pause, beautifully judged.

“So I want to say, publicly, that after a lot of conversation Gwen has decided to step back from day-to-day management of her practice, and Meridian will be providing administrative and financial oversight going forward while she takes the time she needs.”

He turned and put a hand out toward me.
