The Room My Father Built
There is a 3D printer on that bench that he built from a kit and that has never once worked properly, and a soldering station, and about four hundred dollars of my money in components that have gone into things I do not understand.
And there is one of my father’s old drafting stools, which Toby sits on, at a bench he built, in a room in a house that Walter Voss bought for eleven thousand dollars because it had a hole in the roof.
Three generations of that family have now built something in that basement and I am aware that it is a slightly sentimental thing to write down and I am putting it in anyway.
Toby saw a psychologist for two and a half years.
