Dr. Keller glanced at me over the rims of his glasses. “Do I need to know something?”
I hesitated. “He’s my former husband.”
He absorbed it with admirable restraint. “I see.”
“And Ava’s father.” His brows rose. “He just discovered that. I can’t continue as his physician.”
“I agree. But he’s asking to speak with you before he consents to further testing.”
“He doesn’t get to negotiate cardiac care.”
