The connection of the Denyen to Homer’s Danaoi adds another layer.

If the Denyen were indeed people who understood themselves in terms that corresponded to the Danaoi of Greek tradition, then the Egyptian records of Sea Peoples and the Greek tradition of the Trojan War may be recording the same period of crisis from different perspectives — the Egyptian records from the side of those resisting, and the Greek tradition from the side of those migrating.
