Whatever connection exists between the modern Sardinians and the ancient Shardana, it is not visible as a dominant component of modern Sardinian genetics.

The Greeks are a complex case.

Modern Greeks show genetic continuity with ancient Greek populations, including Bronze Age Mycenaeans — but they also show the effects of thousands of years of subsequent history.

The Sea Peoples who came from Aegean populations are, in some diffuse genetic sense, part of the ancestry of populations spread across the Mediterranean — from modern Palestinians and Israelis to Sardinians and Italians — wherever the migrants of the Bronze Age Collapse eventually settled and had children.

The boundaries of ancient ethnic groups, as ancient DNA research consistently demonstrates, are far more permeable than either ancient propaganda or modern nationalism would suggest.
