Harrison’s force camped within a mile of Prophetstown on the night of November 6, 1811.

Tenskwatawa, in the absence of his brother’s restraining influence, led an attack on the American camp in the predawn hours of November 7.

The attack was poorly coordinated.

Tenskwatawa had reportedly told the warriors that his spiritual power would protect them and that the Americans’ guns would not fire.

The Americans’ guns fired.

The battle lasted about two hours, with significant casualties on both sides.

Harrison’s force prevailed, drove the warriors from the field, and marched into Prophetstown to find it abandoned.
