She could change her story afterward as many times as she liked.

She could not change the tape.

A court eventually issued a protective order — a real one, with teeth, barring her from contact with the children, from their schools, from reaching them through anyone else.

She was removed from the positions that had placed her around other people’s children.

None of it was dramatic.
