That is the sentence.
That is the one I played for a Texas Ranger four months later, and it is not a confession and it is not a threat and it would never in a hundred years convict anybody of anything.
It is a seventy-year-old woman, on day four, before any investigation existed, before there was anything to get a story straight about, producing a sentence in the passive voice with no person in it.
It wasn’t anybody’s judgment.
