Chapter 13 — Someone Searched My Room
The lightness did not last.
Two days later I came back from a quick errand to buy diapers, and the moment I stepped into my little quarters I knew, with the certainty a person has about their own space, that someone had been in it while I was gone.
Nothing was obviously wrong.
But my travel bag was closed a little differently than I had left it.
The jars of baby food on the counter had been shifted out of their order.
