“Dad, aren’t we sitting with you and Mom at the big table?” Before I could answer her, Roxanne bent down toward my daughter with a bright, poisonous smile.
“The important adults sit up front, sweetheart.” Cruz frowned and took his sister’s hand.
“But Mom said this was a family dinner for Grandpa.” And Roxanne straightened, tossed her hair, and said it loud enough for the whole room to hear.
