She was thirty-four.
She was tired in the specific way of somebody who has been solely responsible for another human being for a decade.
She had not dressed up for this and I appreciated that more than I can say.
“Before anything,” she said.
“Liam is ten and none of this is his.
I’d like us to agree on that and then we can say whatever else we need to.”
“Agreed.”
