“Why?”
“Because a check for four thousand dollars to a witness, plus a text telling him what to say, is the kind of thing that gets forwarded to the family court that heard your custody case. He’ll pay to keep this in a drawer.”
She capped the pen. “The question you need to answer before June is what a drawer is worth to you.”
