I asked Kit what she’d do.

“Because I take a third either way and you’d be right to wonder.” She took her glasses off. “I’ll tell you what I know instead. Take it and you’re safe and silent. Push and we go to trial in the spring, they’ll spend two days telling a jury you’re an angry ex-wife, and you might get less. Or nothing.”
