Legitimate opportunities can usually wait a day.
They survive a question.
They tolerate a document request.
It is only the ones built on sand that cannot bear the weight of even a short delay, because the delay is exactly when the sand shows, and so the whole machine runs on urgency, on before the banks close, on lose the position, on the manufactured sense that to pause even for an afternoon is to lose everything.
The speed was not a feature of the opportunity.
