The Witness Line
Nobody reads the witness box.
That is what a witness is for.
Part Forty-One: Corinne
One of the twenty was a woman called Corinne Obodo, married in the June of 2004, and she telephoned me rather than writing, on a Tuesday evening, and we talked for fifty minutes.
She was twenty-six in 2004.
She and her husband had driven down from Duluth because her mother-in-law was ill and they had moved the date forward by five months and told almost nobody.
They arrived with no witnesses.
