Damaris Fong gave me his things on the seventeenth of January, in a carrier bag, out of a locker at the shelter, and it took about four minutes because there was almost nothing.
The rucksack.
One folding stool, which the men from the shelter had already taken to the graveside and which is a different stool and which I have chosen not to think about too hard.
Inside the rucksack, in the order I took them out at my kitchen table:
A Minnesota state identification card, expiring in 2027, with a photograph on it from 2019 in which he looks like a man with an apartment.
