The Woman in My Dress
She had, that morning, no exit at all.
She came into the unit at 10:20 in the morning and walked into Mark Sterling’s room and did not close the door.
What she said in the following ninety seconds was heard by two nurses, one resident, a ward clerk and — approximately forty seconds in — by everybody else.
“Where is my money.”
Mark was awake, barely, and on monitors, and had been told nothing about any of it.
“What?”
