The Woman in the Basement
My daughter looked at the ceiling for a while.
“Okay,” she said. “Then I want to know what’s in it. All of it. I’ve heard the middle, I want the whole three minutes and I want you in the room.”
We did it on a Sunday afternoon with the therapist there, which was the therapist’s condition and was correct.
Three minutes and eleven seconds is a long time. I had not sat through it since 2018.
She held up remarkably well until about the two-minute mark, which is where her own voice comes in, and then she put her hand over her mouth and kept it there for the rest and did not ask us to stop.
Afterward she said one thing.
