The Woman in the Basement
My position: I spent six years in a house where a man decided what I was allowed to know and do, and I came out of it and went directly into a family where a man decides what I am allowed to know and do, and the second man loves me, which has made it take seven years instead of six.
“That’s not fair,” Grant said.
“No,” I said. “It’s not fair and it’s accurate, and you’ve been getting a security briefing about my house for seven years that I have never seen.”
He did not have an answer for that.
The briefing comes to me now. He is copied. He asked to be copied and I said yes, because I am not interested in punishing the man who came, and because being copied is a different thing from being sent.
Arthur is the one I am still working on. Arthur released the audio. Arthur executed it, Grant decided it, and I said good when told — and Arthur has spent seven years being thanked for the thing that put my daughter’s voice on the internet, and he did not know, and I did not tell him, and when I finally did in February he went outside and did not come back for forty minutes.
