Margaret Oakes was located in Vancouver the next morning. Lena called her alone. The conversation lasted eleven minutes. When she came out of the library, her eyes were red, but her voice was steady.

“Margaret will testify. Diana convinced her that my father’s organization would collapse after his death. She believed that giving Crestwood limited information would preserve part of his legacy.”

“She believed what Diana needed her to believe,” Adrian said.

“Yes.”

“Will her statement invalidate the evidence?”

“The two internal files will be struck. Without them, Crestwood can’t prove my actions served the Accord rather than you personally.”
