Diana’s warmth vanished. “You walked away from everything he built. You abandoned his work for a man who didn’t even know your real name.”

The words landed. Adrian didn’t interrupt. This wound belonged to Lena.

“I did walk away,” Lena said. “I was tired of becoming someone who measured every human relationship by its strategic value.”

“And how did your ordinary life reward you?”

Lena looked at Adrian, then back at Diana. “It hurt me.” Adrian felt the words like a blade. “But the pain doesn’t prove I was wrong to want love. It proves I chose someone who didn’t yet know how to protect it.”

Diana studied them. “He divorced you.”
