While we waited for the sirens, I did look at one more thing, because I needed to understand what had happened in the hours before I arrived, and the record was there to be understood.

The cloud archive had logged the whole afternoon in its patient, indifferent way, and it told the story in a sequence of timestamps that no explanation could argue with.

I am not going to walk through the footage moment by moment, because Teresa lived it and does not need it recounted, and because the details of what was done to her belong to her and not to a page.
