There were no more angles.
There was no lever.
The evidence existed in a place she could not touch, in a form she could not alter, and no amount of cleverness or charm or performance was going to change what it showed.
For a woman who had spent her life certain that reality was negotiable if you were skilled enough, it must have been a kind of death, that moment.
I did not enjoy watching it.
