While the officers worked and the paramedics readied Teresa for transport, my attorney arrived.
Laura Vance came through the door with a blue binder under her arm and a look on her face that told me the day was not finished delivering its blows.
She waited until the officers had what they needed from that room, and then she drew me aside into the dining room, out of Vanessa’s earshot, and spoke low.
