The Worst Entrance
Grayson reached out and tapped a thick, glossy binder on his desk. Not my manila folder — a beautifully bound document with the Pierce Meridian Group logo embossed on the front.
“Interesting,” he murmured. “Because my Vice President of Acquisitions, Owen Rusk, just handed me this forty-page operational restructuring proposal. He says it’ll revolutionize the safety protocols at a warehouse we quietly acquired last month — Northstar Fulfillment. The very warehouse you used to work at.”
My stomach dropped. Peeking out from the bottom edge of the cover page was a distinct, hand-drawn flow chart.
My flow chart — the one I’d stayed up until three a.m. drawing, detailing exactly how middle managers at Northstar were manipulating cooling data.
I looked at Cassandra. The color had drained from her face. She stole it.
Cassandra hadn’t called me in for a real interview. I’d submitted that proposal in my application packet a month ago.
